# Verify signed-in users in the widget

> Signed-in customers' chats follow them to every device, and the AI agent knows who they are.

Version 1.10 of the chat widget can know who your signed-in customers are. Your server signs a short-lived token for the person, and the widget sends it with every chat request.

## What's new

- **Chats that follow your customers.** A signed-in customer's conversations follow them to every device and browser where they're signed in, and nobody else can open them.
- **The agent knows who it's talking to.** It gets their name and email as facts you vouch for, not as text anyone could type.
- **Verified in Inbox.** Their conversations show their name with a **Verified** tag.
- **Sign in and out from your code.** Pass `userToken` when the widget starts, call `login()` after your own sign-in, and `reset()` when they sign out.
- **Ready-made snippets.** The deployment's **Install** tab has a **Verify signed-in users** card with the server code to sign the token.

Visitors who aren't signed in keep chatting anonymously, as before. Start with [Verify signed-in users](https://docs.help.ai/customize-and-extend-the-widget/verify-signed-in-users) in the Help Center.
